Job Description
- Develop detailed electrical design drawings and layouts for high-voltage projects (e.g., substations, switchyards, transmission facilities).
- Prepare and revise design deliverables including:
- General arrangement drawings
- Single-line and three-line diagrams
- Cable schedules and routing layouts
- Grounding, lighting, and conduit layouts
- Equipment layouts and elevations
- Apply applicable codes, standards, and client specifications (IEEE, IEC, NEC, NESC, local codes).
- Support electrical engineers by translating engineering concepts and calculations into accurate construction-ready drawings.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, protection & control, and mechanical disciplines to ensure integrated designs.
- Participate in design reviews and implement comments from internal teams, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure drawings comply with project scope, schedule, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Assist with material take-offs and vendor drawing reviews as required.
- Maintain organized project documentation and follow company CAD/BIM standards.
- Provide technical guidance to junior designers or drafters when needed.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
The Successful Applicant
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
- 4-8 years of experience in electrical design, preferably within EPC or high-voltage power projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with MicroStation, SmartPlant, or similar design tools is a plus.
- Working knowledge of high-voltage systems including substations (69kV and above), transmission lines, or power distribution facilities.
- Familiarity with electrical design standards and industry best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced project environment.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver within tight EPC project schedules.
