Job Description

• Prepares detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects with an emphasis on sitework and underground utilities
• Quantifies earthwork, grading, excavation, trenching, and backfill based on plans and specifications
• Estimates materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs for water, sewer, storm, and utility installations
• Reviews site conditions, soils reports, and logistics to identify risks and cost impacts
• Analyzes drawings, specifications, and bid documents to ensure accurate scopes of work
• Collaborates with project managers, engineers, and vendors to validate pricing and assumptions
• Supports budgeting, bidding, and value-engineering efforts to improve cost efficiency

The Successful Applicant

• Proven experience as a civil estimator with a strong emphasis on sitework and underground utilities
• Deep understanding of earthwork, excavation, grading, trenching, and utility installation methods
• Demonstrated ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs from civil plans and specifications
• Strong knowledge of water, sewer, storm drain, and utility infrastructure scopes and costs
• Proficient in estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital takeoff tools
• Able to evaluate site conditions, soils reports, and constructability risks during pricing
• Detail-oriented with a track record of producing accurate, competitive bids
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
• Organized and deadline-driven, capable of managing multiple bids simultaneously
• Proactive problem-solver who contributes to value engineering and cost-saving strategies
