Michael Best is seeking a Conflicts Analyst for our Milwaukee or Waukesha, WI office. The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for conducting thorough reporting and analysis to identify potential conflicts of interest between the firm's clients and prospective clients. The Conflicts Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring the firm's compliance with ethical and legal obligations and maintaining client confidentiality.
What You'll Be Doing
- Conduct comprehensive conflict checks using various databases, internal systems, and external resources to identify potential conflicts of interest.
- Analyze conflict search results and evaluate the nature and extent of conflicts and escalate conflicts as necessary.
- Assign client matter numbers and maintain all client matter modifications.
- Collaborate with attorneys, support staff, senior management, and practice chairs to gather additional information and clarify conflict-related matters.
- Maintain system integrity and database clean up.
- Prepare detailed conflict reports summarizing findings, including potential conflicts, associated risks, and recommended actions.
- Monitor changes in client relationships, organizational structures, and legal requirements to proactively identify and address potential conflicts.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to conflict analysis and management.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge Base & Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of prior experience as a conflict analyst or in a related role within a law firm or legal department is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with legal research tools, databases, and conflict management software, including Elite.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze searches and identify and assess potential conflicts and associated risks.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
