A growing real estate investment organization specializing in commercial offices and medical properties is seeking a skilled and detail-focused Property Accountant. This role will oversee the financial reporting and accounting responsibilities for a portfolio of commercial properties and support corporate-level reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
- 5 years of commercial property accounting experience
- Strong understanding of real estate financial metrics and property-level accounting
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Yardi experience preferred but not required
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (US GAAP)
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, balance sheet schedules, and supporting documentation
- Review invoices for accurate GL coding and manage month-end close and accruals
- Partner with property managers on budget variance explanations
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and review acquisition/disposition entries
- Respond to information requests from leadership, lenders, and partners
Cash Management
- Monitor daily cash activity and ensure timely payment processing
- Complete monthly bank and escrow reconciliations
- Support payment setup and cash posting in the accounting system
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist with annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and financial planning activities
Audit & Tax
- Prepare audit workpapers and support the annual audit process
- Assemble reporting packages for external tax filings
