Responsibilities
Catering Sales Manager
The Catering Sales Manager's primary duty is making sales and obtaining contracts for the venue's 1,200 square feet of banquet and event space. This is a revenue-generating position: the Sales Manager is measured on booked business, and most of the working time is spent prospecting, presenting, negotiating, and closing business.
The Sales Manager independently generates, manages, and coordinates outside catering sales. This position owns the full sales cycle: sourcing the lead, qualifying the prospect, conducting the site tour, negotiating terms, closing the contract, and retaining the account through reception and event execution.
Sales performance depends on relationships, so the Sales Manager maintains consistently positive and professional relationships with internal and external clients providing outstanding service, researching and resolving invoice questions, and offering knowledgeable menu recommendations that increase per-event revenue. The Sales Manager facilitates the internal flow of information and communicates directly with guests and vendors and must be available to assist with general catering operations as needed.
Sales Responsibilities
- Generate new business by networking and prospecting with key decision-makers; establish and develop strong, effective relationships with influencers through professional, courteous, and ethical interaction.
- Independently source, identify, and pursue outside networking opportunities through professional industry resources, community events, and special events attended by prospects.
- Coordinate and deliver effective sales presentations and site tours that convert prospects into booked business.
- Negotiate, author, and submit finalized contracts and BEOs to clients and internal staff.
- Maximize occupancy and average revenue per event across the venue's 1,200 square feet of banquet space through upselling, strategic date management, and repeat-business development.
- Maintain an extensive client database and work it consistently for follow-up sales calls and contact (in person, phone, email, mail, etc.).
- Maintain accurate records of all catering sales activity, including pipeline, forecast, and booking pace.
Account Management & Execution
- Address or coordinate all catering requirements and requests in a timely and helpful manner.
- Communicate daily with the Food & Beverage team about guest needs and expectations.
- Serve as the primary group and convention contact once the contract is signed; approve of inventory or other changes and respond to questions or concerns promptly.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of catered events as directed.
- Follow up on guests' experience at the venue, ensuring all issues have been addressed and positioning the account for rebooking.
- Assist with oversight of accounts receivable in conjunction with assigned events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
