Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field. A minimum of three to six years of professional auditing or related experience to include three years of supervisory experience is required. Must possess a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) license, or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) license.

This is advanced professional management work in planning and directing the Audit engagements of the Office of the Commission Auditor. The Office of the Commission Auditor’s Audit Chief serves in an advanced capacity by directing and coordinating the audit engagements within the Audit Division, and activities include the audit of various financial operations in County departments, external government organizations having a contractual relationship with the County and commercial firms doing business with Miami-Dade County.
This position will work in the Miami-Dade County Office of the Commission Auditor and responsibilities include planning, directing, and conducting reviews of assigned organizational and functional activities in accordance with professional auditing standards. Primary responsibilities include directing the conduct of operational, compliance, performance, and financial audits of County agencies, external companies, contractors, and grantees that have a contractual relationship with Miami-Dade County. Duties include assessing the adequacy of internal controls, appraising the management of resources, and determining compliance with procedures, contract terms, laws, and regulations. Related duties include performing staff training and conducting special assignments.
The Office of the Commission Auditor was established in 2002 by the voters of Miami-Dade County after their approval of the Home Rule Charter Amendment to create the position of Commission Auditor in order to provide financial, legislative, research analyses and independent audits to assist the Board of County Commissioners' decision-making process by helping to ensure governmental accountability, transparency, and the best use of public resources.
