Minimum Qualifications 

Bachelor s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering or related field. Must possess a Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer License in State of Florida. Minimum of four years of managerial and/or administrative experience in environmental resource management.


Recruitment Notes 

This position reports to the Environmental Monitoring and Evaluation Section with Building and Environmental Permitting Division. Responsibilities include the management of Senior Professional Geologist, Professional Geologists, Hydrogeologists, and Environmental Resources Project Supervisors working on complex cleanup/site rehabilitation of petroleum contaminated sites. Responsibilities entail the ability to demonstrate expertise in the understanding and application of Chapter 62-780, Florida Administrative Code and Chapter 24 Code of Miami-Dade County, including the understanding of the evaluation of environmental impact, aquifer characterization, geological formations, stratigraphic profiles, fate and transport models and statistical methods, to render technically sound site rehabilitation decisions and execute a No Further Action decision to site owner/responsible party when site rehabilitation criteria have been met. Additionally, this role is expected to collaborate with applicable stakeholders (site responsible parties, state agencies, county departments, etc.) and provide effective and streamlined guidance on environmental cleanup requirements for the development of contaminated sites, to include beneficial soil reuse decisions, to ensure valuable economic growth for the county. Incumbents in this position advise applicable stakeholders of potential chemical contamination, bacteria and pathogens, salt intrusion and emerging contaminants of concern (PFAS, etc.) that could adversely affect Miami-Dade County’s drinking water supply, public health, and the environment. Other responsibilities entail the ability to monitor and/or develop regulations, innovative technologies, and emerging trends in the assessment of petroleum, industrial, solid waste, and will represent RER when responding to public and governmental inquiries and participating in public educational seminars regarding technical and administrative departmental policies.
