JOB SUMMARY:
Miami Country Day seeks a part time professional Swim Instructor to facilitate swim lessons as part of our Swim School. The ideal candidate will assist in teaching lessons, under the guidance of the Aquatics Director.
Miami Country Day Aquatics is an aquatics program with a growing swim lesson program. This role is involved with teaching all levels of lessons under the direct guidance of the Head Swim Instructor. This role also includes a high degree of interaction with students, families, and the public. As a Swim Instructor, he or she will work closely with the Head Instructor to coordinate and schedule lessons and help develop activities to maximize a rewarding educational experience for students and their families.
He or she will be responsible for assuring that the program is conducted in compliance with MCDS policies and procedures. Finally, the Part-Time Swim Instructor assures that the Miami Country Day Aquatics Swim School programs are aligned with the School’s educational mission and overarching strategic objectives. In addition to the qualifications detailed below, the successful candidate will have a passion for educating children, promoting the benefits of swimming and water safety, and have a flexible, problem-solving managerial approach.
Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS:
- Assists and conducts private and or group swim lessons
- Ensures the safety of all patrons, maintain the welfare and enjoyment of all aquatics programs and administer any First Aid / CPR as needed.
- Help schedule and promote the Country Day Swim School
- Works closely with the Director of Aquatics to keep record of number of lessons purchased for each client and ensuring all lessons have been pre-paid on a weekly basis.
- Implement assigned curriculum, and participates in aquatic teacher training and performance reviews
- Comply with and enforce all policies and procedures set forth by Miami Country Day School / Aquatics and the MCDS Employee Handbook
- Present oneself in a professional manner at all times
- Responds quickly to all emergency situations in the water or on the surrounding grounds
- Attends all aquatic staff meetings and training seasons
- Completes all records and reports as required
- Maintains routine records related to swimming accidents, incidents, and assigned activities
- Maintains swimming area in a safe, clean, and orderly condition
- Performs related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required Certifications
- Lifeguard Training (American Red Cross)
- CPR (American Red Cross)
- First Aid (American Red Cross)
- AED Training (American Red Cross)
- WSI (American Red Cross) or Pending
- Previous professional experience with an aquatics program
- Administrative experience in dynamic fast-paced environment a plus
- Must work well with varying age groups of children
