Core Clinical Responsibilities
As a primary clinical evaluator at MBUC, you will work collaboratively with our Medical Director, Practice Management team, and highly trained support staff (including BXMO-licensed radiologic technologists). Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Comprehensive Acuity Management: Independently evaluate, diagnose, and formulate evidence-based treatment plans for high volumes of patients across the lifespan, ranging from pediatric populations (12 months and older) to complex geriatric cases.
- Advanced Procedural Competence: Confidently execute essential urgent care interventions, including advanced suturing and laceration repair, orthopedic splinting and stabilization, incision and drainage (I&D) of abscesses, complex wound debridement, and foreign body extraction.
- Independent Diagnostics: Perform primary, rapid interpretations of on-site digital X-rays and electrocardiograms (EKGs) to facilitate immediate disposition decisions, alongside the ordering and analysis of comprehensive laboratory panels.
- Occupational Health Leadership: Drive our occupational medicine division by conducting Department of Transportation (DOT) commercial physicals, comprehensive pre-employment health screenings, and initial evaluations for workers' compensation injuries.
- Clinical Mentorship: Operate as a clinical leader on the floor, providing guidance to Patient Care Specialists and Medical Assistants, and occasionally assisting the management team in the coordination and mentorship of visiting medical and PA trainees.
Required Qualifications and Licensure
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following rigorous criteria:
- Education: Master’s degree from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
- National Certification: Current, active certification maintained through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- State Licensure: Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine as a Physician Assistant in the State of Florida.
- DEA Registration: Active DEA registration for the State of Florida. Crucially, candidates must have successfully completed the Florida Board of Medicine's mandatory 3-hour CME course on the Safe and Effective Prescribing of Controlled Substances.
- Life Support Certifications: Current BLS/CPR certification is mandatory; active ACLS and PALS certifications are highly preferred.
- DOT Certification: Active FMCSA/DOT Medical Examiner Certification is strongly preferred. Candidates without current certification must formally agree to obtain it within the first 60 days of employment.
- Clinical Experience: A minimum of 1 to 2 years of autonomous clinical experience in a high-volume urgent care, emergency medicine, or acute family practice setting is strictly required. Please Note: We are not interested in freshly graduated or new PAs at this time. Applications from new graduates lacking the required experience will be immediately discarded.
- Language Skills: Given our highly diverse demographic, bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish or English/Italian) is considered a tremendous operational asset.

- Background Screening: Employment is strictly contingent upon the successful completion and clearance of a Level II background screening via the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).
- Pre-Employment Protocols: All incoming providers must submit to a mandatory pre-employment drug screening. Upon establishing a start date, candidates must arrive at 7:45 AM to complete all necessary identification verifications for the federal I-9 and E-Verify processes.
- Probationary Evaluation: To ensure total alignment with our clinical standards and operational velocity, all newly hired providers are employed on a structured, ninety (90) day probationary basis.
- Regulatory Training: MBUC enforces a zero-tolerance policy regarding HIPAA and OSHA violations. You will be required to complete our comprehensive, proprietary HIPAA compliance curriculum and pass the associated certification exam upon onboarding.
- At-Will Status: In accordance with standard corporate policy, employment at MBUC is executed on an at-will basis.
