THE ORGANIZATION: Mi Familia Vota (MFV) and Mi Familia en Acción (MFA) are national Latino-led civic engagement organizations working year-round to strengthen democracy and empower our communities.

MFA, a 501(c)(3), focuses on nonpartisan programs such as citizenship, voter registration, voter education, and leadership development on key issues, including immigration, education, healthcare, voting rights, workers’ rights, reproductive rights, and the environment.

MFV, a 501(c)(4) organization, builds Latino political power through advocacy, organizing, and mobilization to ensure that Latino voices shape the policies that impact their health, safety, and prosperity.

Together, we operate one of the largest Latino civic engagement infrastructures in the country, with programs across eight states (Arizona, California, Nevada, Texas, Colorado, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida) and Washington, D.C.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) will be a key architect of MFV/MFA’s next chapter of growth. The CDO will oversee the development strategy across both the 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations, leading a team responsible for raising a combined annual budget of $10M–$20M and growing.

As a member of the national executive leadership team, the CDO will shape revenue strategy, strengthen donor relationships, expand political and philanthropic partnerships, and ensure development efforts are aligned with organizational goals. The CDO will manage a multi-person development and communications team—including a Deputy Development Director—and oversee consultants, vendors, and cross-department collaboration.

This is a high-impact leadership role for a strategic, relational, and solutions-oriented fundraiser committed to Latino power-building.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Leadership & Team Management

  • Serve on MFV/MFA’s executive leadership team, contributing to strategic direction, organizational priorities, and long-term growth planning.
  • Manage a team of development professionals, providing clear vision, coaching, accountability, and professional development.
  • Lead fundraising-related training for staff and the Board, sharing tools and best practices to expand organizational capacity.
  • Partner with the President and CEO and finance leadership to forecast revenue, track fundraising performance, and assess progress toward annual and multi-year goals.
  • Support the President and CEO by preparing donor materials, coordinating donor engagements, and ensuring the fundraising time is maximized.
  • Work with the Board of Directors on fundraising strategy, expectations, and engagement; train Board members on donor outreach and stewardship.

Fundraising Strategy, Solicitation, & Stewardship

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy across c3 and c4 entities, including institutional giving, major donors, political giving, foundations, and grassroots fundraising.
  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and foundation partners; steward high-level relationships and secure six- and seven-figure commitments.
  • Represent MFV/MFA in donor meetings, funder briefings, philanthropic gatherings, political convenings, and national events.
  • Expand donor pipelines and cultivate new prospects to diversify revenue across states and program areas.
  • Integrate strategic communications into fundraising, ensuring donor engagement materials are aligned with MFV/MFA’s narrative, impact goals, and brand.

Systems, Operations & Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Strengthen development operations, donor lifecycle management, and internal systems to position the organization for sustained growth.
  • Oversee prospect research, donor segmentation, stewardship processes, CRM best practices, and fundraising reporting.
  • Coordinate closely with the communications & campaigns & programs teams to align messaging, fundraising priorities, and campaign timelines.
  • Lead the development of donor collateral, annual reports, impact summaries, and strategic fundraising communications.
  • Oversee donor engagement campaigns, fundraising events, and digital fundraising initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for foundation, c3, and c4 fundraising activities.


KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for and commitment to Latino civic engagement, democracy, our policy priorities and MFV/MFA’s mission.
  • 10 years of experience in fundraising, with demonstrated success in a $10M organization; c3/c4 experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record securing major gifts, institutional funding, philanthropy, and multi-year commitments.
  • Experience managing and developing staff; strong leadership, emotional intelligence, and ability to motivate teams.
  • Exceptional relationship-builder with strong communication, listening, and storytelling skills.
  • Deep understanding of political, advocacy, or movement-building organizations (organizing experience a plus).
  • Demonstrated racial equity, gender equity, and social justice commitment in leadership practice.
  • Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills; comfort representing the organization publicly.
  • Experience working with a President/CEO and Board on fundraising strategies.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time, including cross-country donor visits and in-person convenings.
  • Impeccable discretion and judgment when handling sensitive donor information.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary Range: To be determined based on MFV/MFA structure, recommended range:
$165,000–$190,000
