MHW Search has partnered with a reputable Multifamily and BFR developer who has a national presence. Reporting directly to senior regional development leadership, the Director of Land Acquisitions will be responsible for helping drive the sourcing and execution of a large-scale multifamily development pipeline across key Western growth markets. This role will focus on identifying and securing opportunities capable of supporting a significant annual volume of projects spanning multiple housing product types and substantial capitalization levels.
The company is continuing to expand its presence throughout the Western U.S. and is actively growing its development footprint across several high-growth metros. Key Responsibilities
• Source and pursue off-market land acquisition opportunities across targeted Western markets.
• Utilize mapping platforms, demographic tools, and market analytics to identify viable development sites.
• Build and maintain an active pipeline of land opportunities across a variety of residential product types.
• Perform market research, demographic analysis, and competitive positioning studies.
• Evaluate site feasibility including zoning, utilities, environmental conditions, access, topography, and entitlement considerations.
• Coordinate and manage due diligence efforts related to land acquisitions and development pursuits.
• Research local entitlement and municipal approval processes across various jurisdictions.
• Analyze impact fees, permitting costs, utility fees, and other development-related expenses.
• Support senior development leadership throughout acquisition and predevelopment processes.
• Prepare and negotiate LOIs and assist with purchase agreement negotiations and transaction documentation.
• Assemble investment summaries, market presentations, aerial exhibits, and comparable transaction analyses.
• Track land sales activity, market trends, and development pipeline data within targeted regions.
Preferred Qualifications
• 5-7 years of experience within real estate acquisitions, development, investment sales, capital markets, or related commercial real estate functions.
• Proven experience sourcing and evaluating a high volume of land or development opportunities.
• Strong transactional and analytical skill set with experience managing deals through various stages of execution.
• Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and highly driven personality with the ability to operate independently.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Advanced degree and/or institutional real estate experience is considered a plus.
