The Opportunity
We are looking for a dependable, well-rounded HR Generalist to join our team and serve as the go-to HR professional across our small but growing network. As the sole HR staff member, you’ll manage the full range of HR responsibilities — from payroll coordination to recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance reporting — in close partnership with leadership and our finance team.

What You’ll Do
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Coordinate bi-weekly payroll processing in partnership with our accountant
- Administer benefits enrollment, changes, and employee communications
- Support open enrollment and ensure compliance with benefit regulations
- Lead job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination
- Manage new hire paperwork and onboarding processes
- Oversee offboarding processes and ensure exit documentation is complete
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, policies, and audit requirements
- Track required documents (e.g., FPCCs, contracts, evaluations)
- Review weekly performance reports and flag trends or concerns to leadership
- Assist in updating job descriptions, performance goals, and SMART KPIs
- Support leadership in refining evaluation processes and staff development plans
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions or concerns
- Support leadership in addressing employee relations matters with discretion
- Recommend and help implement improvements to HR systems and workflows
- A practical and people-focused professional with a generalist mindset
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
- Trustworthy with sensitive information and professional in communication
- Flexible and proactive in a small-team environment where roles overlap
- Comfortable balancing day-to-day admin with higher-level strategy support
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or related field
- 3 years of HR experience, ideally in a generalist or multi-functional role
- Experience with payroll coordination, benefits administration, and recruitment
- Familiarity with employment laws and basic HR compliance practices
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) is a plus but not required
- Experience in education or small organizations is preferred
