The Assistant Controller plays a key role in strengthening MFUSED’s financial foundation. As second in command to the Director of Accounting, you’ll ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls while helping lead our transition into more scalable, technology-driven systems.
You’ll act as the primary point of contact for internal teams regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial health across multiple entities. This is a hands-on role designed for someone who loves solving problems, building structure from complexity, and making a measurable impact in a fast-growing organization.
Your Impact
You’ll help shape the financial systems and processes that support MFUSED’s national expansion. From building stronger reporting frameworks to supporting tax compliance and automation initiatives, your work will ensure our teams have the insights, accuracy, and confidence to make informed decisions.
What You’ll Do
- Assist the Director of Accounting in preparing consolidated financial statements and related analyses for leadership.
- Lead or support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
- Serve as the primary administrator for weekly A/P payments and point person for A/R reconciliation and reporting.
- Prepare and file monthly state and local tax returns while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Own fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure tracking.
- Support FP&A in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Monitor cash flow and treasury operations, including bank reconciliations and cash position reporting.
- Create, document, and enhance internal controls and financial procedures.
- Assist with external and internal audits; prepare schedules, respond to inquiries, and implement audit recommendations.
- Provide actionable financial analysis and reporting to help leadership make data-driven decisions.
- Lead or support system enhancements, including ERP or accounting software improvements.
- Act as backup for treasury management, payroll, and deposit functions.
- Lead process optimization initiatives with a focus on automation and scalability.
- Serve as the primary successor to the Director of Accounting.
- Handle additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
What You Bring
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or active pursuit of CPA preferred.
- 4 years of progressive accounting experience; public/private hybrid background strongly preferred.
- Experience with GAAP, multi-entity consolidations, and internal control development.
- Familiarity with manufacturing, inventory, or product-based accounting is a plus.
- Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or ERP systems.
- Experience supporting audits, tax preparation, and compliance reporting.

Work Environment
This position is based onsite at our Seattle, WA headquarters (9369 8th Ave S). Expect regular collaboration with operations, finance, and production teams. Some extended hours may be required during month-end or fiscal close periods.
