Meyers Manx is the original fiberglass dune buggy kit car company. The main duties of the Automotive Assembly and Fabrication Technician include using hand and power tools to assemble and build specialty vehicles under the guidance and supervision of senior craftsmen. Must have the ability to plan ahead, understand the basic mechanics of automobiles, and offer the highest levels of accuracy and quality.
Inventory Controller is responsible for maintaining the stock of parts for builds/spare parts . Their duties include inventory control, sourcing parts and customer service.
The Inventory Controller needs to perform well under pressure and understand the fluctuating needs for various replacement parts to excel in the role. They are responsible for keeping the business well-stocked and keeping customers happy. Some day-to-day Inventory Controller job duties include:
- Forecasting parts needs and ordering parts to maintain optimal inventory levels
- Monitoring the current parts inventory
- Receiving parts, including placing them into inventory and properly labeling them and their location
- Helping customers find and purchase the correct parts
- Overseeing special orders
- Collaborating with service managers to ensure all parts are available for repair jobs
- Answering the phone and either assisting with parts orders or directing calls onwards (eg Sale or accounts)
Experience requirements
· Extensive experience in the automotive industry, which might include work as a mechanic, auto body technician or car salesperson. Previous experience in a parts department, including work as an Assistant Parts Manager, equips the candidate with a strong background to handle the position. Sales, management and customer service experience is also useful. Most experience happens on the job, but some Parts Managers might complete certificate programs at tech schools that give them hands-on experience while they learn.
· Experience/Knowledge/ with air cooled VW engines and parts, an advantage but not essential
· Similar experience with offroad buggies advantageous
· Ability to drive a Manual and reverse /load a car trailer
· Experience with a small team/shop preferred
Education and training requirements
· High school diploma, or equivalent. One-year certificate from a technical school, an associate degree or a bachelor’s degree in a related technical field, recommended but not essential.
· One to three years in automotive parts experience and one or more years of managerial experience a plus. Many people work their way up within the service and parts departments to reach a manager position.
