Van Driver

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere. This position is responsible for transporting food and supplies between locations in the MetroWest area to support the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). May also provide support in other areas as assigned. Equal Opportunity Employer

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Drives van safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.

2. Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out van each day.

3. Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with staff, volunteers, parents, and children at delivery locations.

4. Support the SFSP program by safely delivering food to sites daily. Daily collection of empty coolers, temperature slips, meal counts, and feedback from site staff.

5. Promote the YMCA’s SFSP program at community sites including supporting enrichment activities and food distribution as needed.

6. Familiarize self with SFSP rules and regulations.

7. Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor to report and resolve issues efficiently.

8. Represents the MetroWest YMCA with excellence and professionalism.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

2. Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles

3. Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR and First Aid.

4. Desire and ability to work with children.

5. Track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to safely drive a van for extended periods of time.

2. Ability to respond to emergency situations.

3. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.

4. Ability to lift and carry food orders up to 50lbs

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
