metroSTOR is looking for a practical, hands-on Field Service Engineer to support our growing installed product base across the United States.
We design and supply external waste, recycling and organics infrastructure for multifamily, municipal and commercial customers. This is a new role created as our US business continues to grow and will combine customer service visits, mechanical repairs, product upgrades and practical engineering improvement.
The role is based from our Windsor, Connecticut operation but will involve frequent travel throughout the United States, including regular overnight stays.
The role
You will visit customer sites to inspect, maintain and repair installed metroSTOR products, taking responsibility for each visit from preparation through to completion. Work will include mechanical adjustments, replacement of components, upgrades and practical modifications.
You will also use what you learn in the field to help improve our products, assembly methods and service procedures. When not traveling, you will support product testing, assembly and practical engineering work at our Windsor operation.
This is not a desk-based design role or a routine installation position. It would suit someone who enjoys working independently, solving practical problems and dealing directly with customers.
Main responsibilities
- Complete planned and reactive service visits across the United States.
- Diagnose mechanical and product issues and carry out repairs or modifications.
- Prepare the correct parts, tools and information before attending site.
- Communicate clearly with customers and follow work through to completion.
- Feed practical field experience into product and service improvements.
- Support assembly, testing and technical work in Windsor when not traveling.
About you
You may currently work as a field service engineer, service technician, mechanical technician, maintenance engineer or in another practical technical role.
You will need strong hands-on mechanical ability, confidence using tools and the judgment to work independently at customer sites. You should be able to understand drawings and product information, communicate professionally and maintain straightforward records of completed work.
A formal engineering qualification would be useful, but substantial field-service or practical mechanical experience may be equally suitable.
A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently are essential.
