What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at MetroPower?
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely load, unload, and transport electrical materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites, warehouses, and staging areas.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move and organize inventory.
- Assist electricians by delivering necessary materials to designated work areas, ensuring timely availability to support project schedules.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking material usage and reporting discrepancies.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and participation in safety training sessions.
- Collaborate with warehouse and project management teams to coordinate material deliveries and returns.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns.
- Keep work areas clean and organized to promote a safe and efficient working environment
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license; CDL may be required for certain positions.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and communication purposes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Prior experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or construction support is preferred.
