Job Summary:
Under the supervision and direction of the MHS Area Manager or Lead Porter/External Greeter is responsible for greeting, screening, and providing assistance when appropriate, to all visitors, patients, and colleagues as they enter the facility and upkeep the hospital campus in order to enhance and maintain its cleanliness. The position provides information regarding directions and the location of specific services. The Porter/External Greeter reflects the MHS-WE CARE core values.
- Ensures a warm friendly welcome to all individuals entering the facility (i.e., patients, visitors, vendors, delivery personnel, staff, etc.) Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work area.
- Monitors the flow of people entering the building to ensure appropriate distancing between individuals in accordance with the social distancing guidelines posted leading up to and/or posted at the building entry.
- Immediately report any accidents to the manager on duty.
- Provide additional information to employees, patients, or visitors once responses have been documented.
- Constantly observes the condition of hospital grounds and immediately reports and/or initiates action to correct unsafe conditions.
- Physically walks and/or uses a golf cart on and around the property on a frequent basis.
- Maintains that the grounds are always free of litter.
- Pick up trash and alert EVS when cans are full.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and neat work environment by following standards and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Physical Requirements:
- Willingness to work in the elements – heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, talk, see, hear, and bend.
- Must be able to push and pull (on wheelchair) 100 to 350 pounds, frequently over a considerable distance.
- Must be able to operate a motorized golf cart and/or other mechanical equipment.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and extended hours is sometimes required.
Qualification and Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent, or equivalent experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with no restrictions and present most recent driving record.
- Must be able to work legally in the United States.
- Must pass pre-employment requirements.
- Able to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation.
- May be required to meet immunization or health screening requirements through providing personal records or undergoing testing and, if required, further immunizations or tests.
- Must adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of tasks.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for customer service and attention to detail, going the extra mile.
