The Service and Security Officer 1 is a full time, Civil Service position located in Juvenile Court. Serves warrants, subpoenas, and other legal documents and maintains the safety and security of court-related activities, facilities, and property. Performs related duties as required.

Employees may be required to work varying shifts and weekends.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and one (1) year of public contact experience.
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

Typical Duties
- Provide security in Juvenile Court facilities, including courtrooms.
- Serve and process a variety of civil documents.
- Locate persons and deliver subpoenas or warrants.
- Perform various administrative duties.
- Receive complaints and take appropriate action.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as necessary.
- Notify persons of court dates.
- May provide transportation services as needed.
- May place persons under arrest at the direction of a Judicial Officer.
- May search and transport persons upon arrest.
- May perform various security-related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and one (1) year of public contact experience.

- Valid Driver's License.
- As part of the duties of this job, employees will be required to complete and pass a firearms training course approved by Juvenile Court within the first six months of employment. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Employees who carry firearms as part of their job duties must obtain a State of Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit prior to completion of the probationary period. Failure to obtain a State of Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit during the probationary period could result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
