Supported Employment Specialist

The Supported Employment Specialist works with Mental Health Clinicians, Drug and Alcohol Professionals, and outreach programs, providing services to individuals who have been challenged by homelessness due to addiction, mental health or traumatic life events. The incumbent provides comprehensive support throughout the entire job placement process, to include job searches based upon the client's career goals, and support for the client and employer to ensure long-term employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide Excellent Customer Service By: Reaching out to clients within 24 hours of referral. Provide respectful and compassionate support to the individuals that we serve. Ensure consistent follow-up and communication. Create paths to employment based upon the clients’ goals.
• Effectively Communicate with all stake holders: Clients, clinicians, support team, insurance providers, DSHS, DVR, DDA.
• Develop Employment Strategies: To include all phases of job development, placement, and ongoing training, career assessments, job planning, resume building, interview training, and ongoing support.
• Business Development: Develop professional relationships with Pierce County employers. Maintain ongoing relationships with employers by cold-calling businesses and arranging face to face meetings on behalf of clients, and participating in on-site visits to build solid working relationships with employers
• Case Management: Maintain computer and hard copy client files. Update client information and input case notes within 24 hours of providing service to client. Fulfill “contract” obligations regarding recording all efforts on behalf of clients.
• Represent Co-Occurring and Supported Employment Program: Creating Community Awareness by attending events and job fairs. Developing relationships with DVR, DDA, and Work Source professionals.

• High School Diploma
• Computer skills: Microsoft Suites, and the ability to quickly assimilate proprietary software.
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License / Proof of liability insurance / Reliable transportation
• Ability to work independently and be self-directed
• Strong networking skills: Contacting businesses via cold calls
• Ability to maintain up-to-date client files
• Ability to maintain client confidentiality at all times

Preferred Qualifications:

• AA in Social Services or closely related field
• Peer Counselor Certification or Chemical Dependency Professional Trainee with 50 or more hours OR
• Two years of professional experience working with individuals who have social or mental disorders
