The Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT) provides counseling services to adults, youth, and their families, while under the direct supervision and mentorship of a qualified clinical supervisor. The Trainee is a practicing clinician, offering chemical dependency assessments and treatment services to clients and their families. The Trainee plays an integral part in MDCs healthcare services by helping to promote self-sufficiency and remove individuals and families from poverty.   • Develop specific, individualized plans that serve as road maps for clients to get them to a self-sufficient status where they are working towards self-reliance.
  • Conducts chemical dependency evaluations utilizing the DSM 5 and the ASAM-Patient Placement Criteria.
  • Provides individual, group, and family counseling.
  • Prepares and maintains complete, confidential, and timely client records, in accordance with State and County contractual requirements.
  • Collaborates with peer Substance Use Disorder Professionals and Clinical Supervisor on assessments, evaluations, individual service plans, and transfers to ensure continuum of care and quality treatment.
  • Conducts and collects patient urinalysis test as required.
  • Completes discharge summaries and after-care plans in a timely manner in accordance with State requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains ongoing relations with agencies, other professionals, government entities, schools and community partners to ensure appropriate referral resources are available to address the needs of clients.
  • Prepares and completes monthly status reports and letters pertinent to direct services to ensure compliance with requests from other agencies and professionals in the community.
  • Maintains active contact with County/City probation departments and other legal resources to monitor the progress of clients, as needed.
  • Provides or assists in conducting community and school outreach, to ensure contractual requirements.
  • Participates in developing and executing program goals and objectives in conjunction with Clinical Supervisor.
  • Meets with Clinical Supervisor regularly to coordinate work activity and to develop clinical skills.
  • Actively pursues and completes all training and/or work sessions required to become a Substance Use Disorder Professional
  • Must practice to the utmost degree in ethics, confidentiality, and boundary setting.
  • Maintains health regulatory requirements, i.e. annual TB test result or an exemption, Blood-borne Pathogen training and other health requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Current Washington State Department of Health SUDPT Certificate.
  • Proof of successful completion of the following four classes; (1) Introduction to chemical dependency, (2) physiology and pharmacology of alcohol and other drugs, (3) group counseling, (4) and case management.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Outlook, Word, and database computer programs. Intermediate to advanced keyboarding skills.
  • Upon employment and/or training present and maintain a copy annually thereafter of the results of a TB skin test or evidence of completion of a course of approved treatment by a physician or local health officer if the results are positive.
  • The incumbent must become a certified Substance Use Disorder Professional within two (2) years from date of hire as a Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee.
  • Must have valid Washington State Drivers License and reliable personal transportation
