The Housing Locator serves individuals within Pierce County who are seeking housing options through our Rapid Rehousing Program. This position works with landlords to identify potential housing solutions for individuals experiencing homelessness and working with other case managers in the community to provide housing options. This position involves timely administrative support, client intake, and resource navigation. As the Housing Locator meets clients where they are, a Driver’s License is required.

  • Provide support to low-income individuals that are exiting from various systems, which may include foster care, homelessness, disconnection from school, justice involvement; and may be experiencing poverty, mental health struggles, chemical dependence, etc.
  • Recruit landlords to provide rental units to low-income individuals and families.
  • Maintain up-to-date roster of available housing units with applicable information.
  • Match program participants with appropriate housing; coordinate with clients and landlords.
  • Screen incoming applicants, evaluate applications for eligibility to receive services, produce reports and maintain related directories and files.
  • Monitor and field incoming inquiries via email, text, and phone calls.
  • Collaborate with other staff and/or community partners to plan and facilitate community dialogs around housing navigation; hosting sessions around budgeting and reducing barriers to housing.
  • Strong understanding of terms and conditions of the funding sources; ensuring that outcomes of services meet required commitments.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with landlords, other service providers, businesses, organizations, and institutions related to specialized housing services.
  • Maintain clear, professional, and timely client records, such as: contact notes, service plans, progress updates, service outcomes, and other documentation.
  • Practice consistent professional communication with program participants and community partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Schedule: Mon - Fri, 8am - 430pm

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, Associate’s degree required.
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience providing housing related services.
  • Experience respectfully and effectively engaging with diverse populations.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and navigating databases.
  • Strong time management skills; ability to self-direct.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office tools (such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Driver’s license, liability insurance, and a reliable vehicle; ability to transport clients.
  • Ability to meet clients at locations in the community.

Salary : $23 - $30
