We are seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Technician to join our Operations team in Plainsboro, NJ.

Position Summary

The Senior Electronics Technician serves as a technical leader within manufacturing, supporting the assembly, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, repair, and continuous improvement of sophisticated Raman spectroscopy instruments and electro-optical systems. This role works closely with Engineering, Quality, Service, and Production teams to ensure products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

The ideal candidate possesses strong electronic troubleshooting skills, experience with test equipment, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to mentor and support junior technicians.

Responsibilities

Electronics Assembly & Testing

  • Assemble, configure, troubleshoot, and test handheld, portable, laboratory, and OEM spectroscopy instruments.
  • Perform component-level troubleshooting of electronic assemblies, PCBs, subassemblies, and finished products.
  • Execute established production, calibration, and verification procedures.
  • Utilize oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Support pilot builds, engineering prototypes, and new product introductions.

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as a primary electronics troubleshooting resource for production personnel.
  • Train and mentor Electronics Technicians and Production Technicians.
  • Assist with failure investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Provide recommendations to improve product quality, manufacturability, reliability, and throughput.

Continuous Improvement

  • Build, maintain, and improve production test fixtures and diagnostic tools.
  • Assist with implementation of engineering changes and manufacturing improvements.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize test methods and assembly procedures.

Quality & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate production, calibration, repair, and test records.
  • Support ISO quality system requirements and ESD control practices.
  • Review and improve work instructions, test procedures, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Participate in nonconformance investigations and corrective action activities.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Service, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Assist with customer returns, service evaluations, and failure analysis activities.
  • Support product transfers from engineering development into production.

Qualifications Required

  • Associate Degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, testing, repair, or engineering support.
  • Strong component-level troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes and digital multimeters.
  • Strong soldering and rework skills (through-hole and SMT).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with spectroscopy, laser, optical, medical, scientific, or analytical instrumentation.
  • Experience with production test automation and manufacturing support equipment.
  • Knowledge of IPC workmanship standards.
  • IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification.
  • Familiarity with SQL databases, Python scripting, or manufacturing software systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and perform fine assembly work for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to perform detailed visual inspection and precision electronic work.
  • Ability to work with manufacturing chemicals, solvents, and ESD-sensitive components while following established safety procedures.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
