About the Opportunity
Metro Esports is expanding in the Rochester region — and we’re looking for someone with local insight, passion, and leadership skills to help shape what we’re building.
As Regional Esports Community Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of our facilities located inside YMCA branches, while developing programs, events, and experiences that connect the local gaming and STEM community.
A cornerstone of this role will be local engagement: forging relationships with YMCA leadership, schools, and community organizations, understanding local needs and opportunities, and tailoring programs that resonate with and support the Rochester community. Your efforts will lay the groundwork for long-term growth, sustained integration, and lasting impact.
Directly reporting to the VP Operations and Senior Project Manager, this is a high-responsibility, high-ownership role. You’ll lead teams, manage daily operations, support partner initiatives, and drive community development — all while helping Metro Esports establish deeper roots in your area. It is highly collaborative with various stakeholders, leaders, and teams.
Key Responsibilities
Community Development and Engagement
- Lead efforts to nurture and grow the esports communities across our New York venues, tailoring unique experiences to the local culture of each site.
- Develop and manage community programs, tournaments, scholastic esports activities, and special events.
- Actively engage with guests and participants to build a vibrant, welcoming community.
- Forge strong partnerships with YMCA leadership, local schools, and community organizations.
- Support the design and delivery of scholastic esports and STEM programming in collaboration with YMCA partners.
- Represent Metro at meetings and outreach events, becoming a recognized community presence.
Operations
- Operate gaming lounges during assigned shifts, overseeing daily guest experience, safety, and setup.
- Manage rental bookings, birthday parties, program logistics, and equipment upkeep.
- Ensure facilities operate efficiently, safely, and according to Metro’s operational guidelines.
- Work with VP Operations to hire, train, and schedule Game Lounge Operators and Instructors.
- Provide daily support, coaching, and accountability to staff teams.
- Communicate Metro initiatives clearly and consistently across the team.
- Plan and execute tournaments, leagues, camps, and educational programs.
- Contribute to content creation, including photos, videos, and storytelling for social media and internal platforms.
- Innovate new event ideas based on community needs and Metro’s broader goals.
