Position Summary
The Medical Office Receptionist provides frontline administrative support at an MCHC site, ensuring efficient patient check-in and check-out, accurate scheduling, and professional patient communication. As the first point of contact for patients, this role is critical in creating a welcoming, organized, and patient-centered environment.
Responsibilities
Patient Check-In & Scheduling
- Greet patients upon arrival and perform check-in procedures, including verifying demographics and confirming appointment details
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments via phone, in person, and patient portal
- Inform patients about the Sliding Fee Discount Program and refer eligible patients as needed
Administrative Support
- Collect, organize, and route patient forms, referrals, and medical records
- Maintain a clean and professional front desk environment
- Answer incoming calls and route messages appropriately
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
- Report patient concerns or access issues to leadership
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum one (1) year of receptionist or administrative experience in healthcare or customer service preferred
- Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or similar EHR system preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
