Job Summary:
The Vice President (VP) of Finance will lead the financial strategy and operations of the company, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainable growth. This executive will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial planning, reporting, budgeting, compliance, and capital strategy. The VP of Finance will play a critical role in scaling the ISP's infrastructure and operations profitably and efficiently, navigating the complexities of the telecom industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and implement the company’s long-term financial strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team based on financial analysis and projections.
- Support business expansion plans including new service rollouts, infrastructure investments, and M&A activity.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
- Analyze operational performance and market trends to identify growth opportunities and cost optimization.
- Oversee revenue assurance, pricing models, and margin analysis for internet/data services.
Accounting & Reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and present financial reports and dashboards to the board of directors and investors.
Cash Flow & Capital Management
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditure planning.
- Optimize funding structures, credit lines, and banking relationships.
- Drive capital planning for fiber, tower, and wireless infrastructure builds.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including telecom sector requirements (FCC, CRTC, etc. as applicable).
- Oversee audits, tax filings, and internal controls.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, including cost fluctuations and technology investments.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, mentor, and lead the finance and accounting teams.
- Foster a high-performance culture aligned with company values and goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA strongly preferred).
- 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 in a leadership role.
- Experience in telecom, ISP, or a similarly capital-intensive and regulated industry is required.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition in subscription-based or service-based models.
- Deep knowledge of financial systems, modeling tools, and ERPs (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP).
- Proven success managing funding, investor relations, or M&A activities.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with fiber optic and/or wireless network deployment financing
- Familiarity with telecom regulatory frameworks and cost models (e.g., USF, CAF, etc.)
- Prior involvement in raising capital or managing investor/stakeholder relations
