The Opportunity
We are seeking a senior Stormwater Engineering Leader to grow the company’s stormwater presence in North Carolina. This role combines technical leadership, project delivery, client development, and team building.
Key Responsibilities
- Grow stormwater business opportunities through client relationships, partnerships, and industry engagement.
- Lead strategy and innovation initiatives within the stormwater practice.
- Build and develop a local stormwater delivery team.
- Manage planning, design, and construction support projects, including drainage systems, channels, pump stations, storage/treatment facilities, and green infrastructure solutions.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams and mentor engineering staff.
- Support proposals, client presentations, permits, technical reports, and design documentation.
- Travel within North Carolina as needed, with occasional wider travel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
- 10 years’ experience in stormwater or water resources engineering.
- Professional Engineering license in North Carolina (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- 5 years managing teams and delivering stormwater projects.
- Experience with client development, proposals, presentations, and project strategy.
- Experience with permitting, compliance reporting, cost estimating, and bid documentation.
- Knowledge of green infrastructure, nature-based solutions, and stormwater modelling tools (such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, ArcGIS, and Civil 3D).
- Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with FEMA floodplain requirements, CLOMR/LOMR processes, and advanced stormwater analysis.
