Senior Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction
Metric Geo are working with a well-established, employee-owned heavy civil contractor seeking a Senior Estimator to lead complex bid efforts across earthwork, transportation and infrastructure projects. This role owns the estimate from first review through handoff and plays a key role in winning future projects.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the full estimating process on large heavy civil bids
- Review plans, specs, reports, and site conditions
- Develop detailed cost estimates for earthwork, utilities, materials, labor, equipment, and trucking
- Analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing and select best-value options
- Identify risks (soil, groundwater, logistics, schedule) and build mitigation strategies
- Collaborate closely with operations and project teams to align means and methods
- Support bid strategy, value engineering, and post-award handoff
What We’re Looking For
- 7 years estimating heavy civil projects
- Strong experience with mass earthwork, utilities and earthwork
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and MS Office
- AGTEK and P6 experience preferred
- Strong commercial judgment, communication, and leadership skills
