Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our client's Quality Management System (QMS). This is a corporate services role (non-billable) that is responsible for establishing consistent procedures, work standards, and tools that ensure effective project delivery across the organization. The Quality & Standards Manager reports to the Director of Project Delivery Excellence and plays a pivotal role in supporting both technical teams and leadership in achieving quality and performance goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deliver, and maintain firm-wide quality training programs, including in-person sessions, virtual workshops, and self-directed learning modules.
- Partner with project management leadership to coordinate multi-day skills training, virtual learning, and other initiatives to enhance project delivery.
- Develop, refine, and implement QMS procedures to improve project execution and address critical quality-related areas.
- Monitor adherence to QMS standards through project audits, mentoring, and team engagement.
- Establish and track performance metrics for project teams, evaluating quality, client relationships, teamwork, and financial outcomes.
- Maintain and manage centralized resources, including online libraries of quality documents, design standards, and reference materials.
- Oversee access to industry standards, codes, and internal specification tools, recommending technologies that improve project delivery efficiency.
- Support the development of annual business plans aligned with the firm’s strategic goals.
- Collaborate with market and practice leaders to identify quality needs, gather feedback, and implement improvements organization-wide.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of QMS documents and tools that support document control and consistent project practices.
- Guide leadership initiatives focused on improving delivery within specific disciplines, project phases, or service areas.
- Participate in the hiring and interview process for senior roles within the Project Delivery Excellence team.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to team members to ensure high standards in project execution.
- Conduct internal project reviews to assess compliance with QMS procedures and promote best practices.
- Work cross-functionally with leadership, operations, IT, HR, risk management, and communications teams to align quality initiatives with organizational priorities.
- Capture and communicate lessons learned and best practices to continuously enhance firm-wide performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field.
- 20 years of experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry.
- Professional licensure or certification preferred (PE, RA, RID, PMP).
- Proven track record managing diverse projects across various sizes and types.
- Experience providing training, oversight, and mentorship to professionals.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively coach and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel to office locations as required.
Further Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Project Management Institute (PMI) standards and experience implementing firm-wide programs.
- Background in multi-discipline A/E firms or infrastructure organizations.
- Construction management experience is a plus.
