Project Manager – Heavy Civil / Bridge Construction

About the Opportunity
A well-established heavy civil contractor with 40 years of experience across New England is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its team in Connecticut.
The company specializes in bridge construction, bridge rehabilitation, heavy highway, maintenance, and design-build projects, delivering complex infrastructure work for state and municipal clients.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of projects from preconstruction through final closeout, working closely with field teams, subcontractors, engineers, clients, and other project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead heavy civil and bridge projects from planning through completion.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, costs, and forecasts.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, field operations, materials, and equipment.
- Manage project logistics and ensure resources are available when required.
- Monitor project progress, quality, safety, and contract compliance.
- Conduct site visits and work closely with Superintendents and field personnel.
- Identify and manage project risks, changes, delays, and contractual issues.
- Review and maintain project documentation, reports, submittals, and schedules.
- Communicate regularly with owners, engineers, DOT representatives, and subcontractors.
- Help drive efficient project delivery and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience managing heavy civil, highway, bridge, or transportation projects.
- Strong understanding of the construction project lifecycle.
- Experience managing schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and project documentation.
- Strong knowledge of construction logistics, procurement, and project coordination.
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and project requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Proficiency with construction/project management software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and project execution.
