Highway / Roadway Design Engineer
Dover or New Castle, Delaware | (Hybrid Working)
An established transportation engineering consultancy is looking to add a Highway / Roadway Design Engineer to its Delaware team.
The group has a strong backlog of transportation work and is looking for a technically capable engineer who can contribute directly to roadway design and plan production.
This is primarily a technical design position rather than a project management or business development role. Strong OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and/or MicroStation experience is particularly important.
The Role
You’ll work alongside experienced transportation engineers and project managers on highway and roadway projects for public-sector clients.
Responsibilities will include:
- Highway and roadway design and plan production
- Developing construction plans and engineering documents
- Working in OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation
- Applying relevant DOT design criteria, standards, and specifications
- Supporting quantities and construction cost estimates
- Coordinating with project engineers and other technical disciplines
- Working across multiple transportation design projects as workload requires
- Supporting projects through design and preparation for construction
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Experience in highway, roadway, or transportation design
- Strong working knowledge of ORD and/or MicroStation
- Understanding of roadway design standards and plan preparation
- Experience working on state DOT transportation projects is preferred
- EIT certification
- Able to work effectively as part of a design team and manage multiple assignments
