Roadway Project Manager
Location: Indianapolis, IN
About the Opportunity
We are representing an established engineering consultancy in the search for a Roadway Project Manager to join its transportation team in Indianapolis.
This is an opportunity for an experienced roadway engineer to take a leading role in the design and delivery of state and locally funded transportation projects throughout Indiana, working directly with project teams, clients and technical disciplines.
The ideal candidate will bring 6 years of roadway engineering experience, at least 2 years of project management experience, and an Indiana PE license or the ability to obtain one within six months. Strong knowledge of the INDOT and Federal Aid design process is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage roadway projects from Notice to Proceed through post-letting services.
- Provide design direction and manage project tasks for Federal Aid, INDOT and local transportation projects.
- Develop project scopes, schedules and budgets.
- Review and approve roadway design calculations.
- Review plans and technical drawings across multiple projects.
- Manage project priorities, schedules and deliverables to ensure work remains on track.
- Coordinate with internal support departments and external sub-consultants.
- Work closely with and mentor junior engineers and CAD designers.
- Support the preparation of Letters of Interest (LOIs) for state and local projects.
- Meet with existing and prospective clients to understand project needs and provide recommendations.
- Communicate project requirements and technical information to clients and project teams.
- Support the successful delivery of multiple roadway projects simultaneously.
Ideal Background
- 6 years of roadway engineering experience.
- 2 years of project management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Indiana PE license required, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Strong understanding of the INDOT and Federal Aid design process.
- Experience delivering state and/or locally funded roadway projects.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Experience reviewing roadway plans and design calculations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Previous experience mentoring junior engineers or CAD designers preferred.
