Electrical Estimator – T&D / Substations

Overview

Our client, a leading contractor in the power delivery sector, is seeking an Electrical Estimator to support the delivery of transmission, distribution, and substation projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organization involved in complex utility infrastructure work across multiple regions.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for T&D and substation projects, including labor, materials, and equipment
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate project pricing
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations
• Perform quantity take-offs and scope analysis to ensure complete bid coverage
• Participate in bid reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering efforts
• Support the development of proposals, including RFP responses and bid submissions
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to align estimates with execution strategy
• Assist with change order pricing and cost tracking throughout the project lifecycle

Requirements

• 3 years of electrical estimating experience

OR

• 4 years of experience within T&D and/or substation projects
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and utility standards
• Experience with take-offs, bid preparation, and subcontractor management
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on utility-scale transmission, distribution, or substation projects
• Familiarity with estimating software and cost databases
• Background working for an electrical contractor or utility contractor
