About the Company:
A privately held real estate development and engineering firm based in Sugar Land, TX is expanding its engineering division and seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new business growth.
The firm provides in-house civil engineering, land development, and architectural design services supporting both its own development projects and select external clients. With over 40 engineers currently on staff, the company is now looking to build external relationships and take on third-party engineering and design work across residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use sectors.
About the Role:
The Business Development Manager will play a key role in expanding the company’s engineering client base by building relationships with developers, builders, architects, and public agencies across the Greater Houston area and beyond.
This is a brand-new position reporting directly to the firm’s Director of Engineering, offering an opportunity to shape business development strategy and directly impact growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities for the company’s engineering and design services
- Build and maintain relationships with developers, builders, municipalities, and design professionals
- Actively network through professional organizations such as GHBA, West Houston Association, ULI, and ACRP
- Develop and deliver presentations, proposals, and bids for potential projects
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to align proposals and capabilities with client needs
- Explore potential opportunities with public agencies and municipalities for engineering contracts and bid work
Qualifications:
- 8–10 years of experience in business development, client relations, or marketing within civil engineering, land development, or related sectors
- Strong existing network within Houston’s real estate and land development community
- Active participation in professional organizations (e.g., WHA, GHBA, ULI, ACRP)
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to source, develop, and close new business opportunities
- Entrepreneurial mindset and self-driven work ethic
Compensation & Structure:

Salary : $150,000 - $170,000
