Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine in Fayetteville, NC, a candidate school with the LCME, with a survey visit for preliminary accreditation scheduled for May 2025, is seeking an experienced physician-leader to serve as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The Senior Associate Dean, reporting directly to the Dean, will oversee all financial, operational, and strategic aspects pertaining to the curriculum and related aspects of academic affairs. The Senior Associate Dean will be a member of the Deans Cabinet and participate in executive level decisions of the School of Medicine. It is expected that the Senior Associate Dean will demonstrate the highest levels of professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, and collegiality consistent with the mission and values of the School of Medicine. During the candidate and subsequent accreditation phases, the Senior Associate Dean will ensure that compliance with all elements of Standards 6 through 9 of the LCME document Structures and Functions of a Medical School are successfully achieved. Job Responsibilities:
Furthers the mission, vision, and goals of the College of Medicine and Methodist University
Serves as an ambassador for the College, the University, and the Health System
Serves as a member of the Deans Cabinet
Serves as a member of the Deans Council
Works collaboratively to:
Design, implement and continuously improve the four-year College of Medicine curriculum
Ensure optimal preparation of graduates for residency placement
Bring awareness surrounding new developments in health professions educational technologies and modalities and identifying necessary resources
Define and ensure consistent application of evaluation strategies for student performance
Provide integration of the full four-year curriculum
Define educational outcomes
Ensure ongoing compliance with the LCME accreditation standards surrounding the MD educational program
Provide input into faculty development
Provide input to the appointments and promotions process
This position will have the following direct reports:

Associate Dean, Curriculum
Associate Dean, Clinical Education
Assistant Dean, Clinical Skills Education
MD strongly preferred
Terminal Degree in health professions or related field considered
10 years or more of leadership in a health professions college
Salary : $85,000 - $150,000
