What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education, School of Medicine position at METHODIST UNIVERSITY INC?
Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine in Fayetteville, North Carolina, invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education.
Reporting directly to the Dean, the Vice Dean will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of undergraduate medical education, fostering academic excellence, and aligning clinical and educational missions. MU CFVH School of Medicine is a candidate school with the LCME, having completed a site visit for preliminary accreditation in May 2025.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Oversight of LCME-accredited UME programs, curriculum innovation, and assessment
- Integration of clinical operations and educational initiatives across the academic health system
- Faculty development, mentoring, and promotion of scholarly activity
- Liaison with accreditation bodies and leadership of continuous quality improvement in education
- Collaboration with senior leadership on GME program growth, interprofessional education, and strategic planning
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD (or equivalent) with Board Certification
- Eligible for medical licensure in North Carolina
- At least 10 years of progressive leadership in academic medicine (Associate Dean, Department Chair, or similar)
- Demonstrated experience with LCME processes and accreditation standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- A strong record of faculty development, curriculum oversight, and academic leadership
- Proven ability to build and sustain academic-clinical partnerships
