The Department of Social Work at Methodist University is seeking adjunct faculty to teach courses in its Bachelor of Social Work program beginning August 2026. Embedded within the Division of Human Services in the College of Health Sciences and Human Services, the BSW program prepares students for generalist social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. The program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and highly regarded in the state of North Carolina and beyond. Adjunct instructors are responsible for teaching online and/or in a traditional classroom setting in curricular areas related to social work practice methods, human behavior and the social environment, and social welfare policy.
Interested persons should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy statement (no more than 1-page in length), and a statement that articulates their approach to teaching or other initiatives designed to foster a sense of student engagement, community, and belonging (not to exceed 1-page in length). The letter of interest should identify the area(s) of the curriculum you are interested in teaching in along with an explanation of your qualifications to teach courses in that area(s).
Qualifications:- MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program (DSW or PhD in Social Work preferred)
- 2-years, full-time post-MSW practice experience
- Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate social work courses
- Experience with Canvas Learning Management System
- Availability to teach in person and/or online
