Position Summary
The Development Coordinator works closely with the Development Director to support MJM’s fundraising efforts through donor stewardship, communications, marketing, events, and development operations. This role helps create meaningful donor experiences while ensuring consistent messaging, strong community engagement, and excellent stewardship.
This position does not process charitable gifts or perform financial reconciliation, allowing the Coordinator to focus on donor engagement, communications, and relationship-building.
Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing
- Support the Development Director in implementing MJM's communications and marketing strategies.
- Work with the Development Director and leadership team to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
- Social Media: Manage MJM's social media accounts by creating and scheduling content and monitoring engagement.
- Website: Create and update website content to ensure timely and accurate information.
- Electronic Communications: Coordinate monthly e-newsletters, event invitations, and other electronic communications.
- Print Materials: Design, develop, and produce marketing and fundraising materials, including brochures, case statements, annual reports, and other collateral.
- Media Relations: Help coordinate the drafting and distribution of press releases and other media communications.
- Storytelling: Meet with former clients to gather success stories for use in print, digital, and donor communications.
Donor Stewardship
● Draft and coordinate donor acknowledgment and stewardship communications, including thank-you calls, handwritten notes, emails, and letters.
● Coordinate special donor recognition efforts for new donors, monthly donors, and members of MJM's giving societies.
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the CRM.
● Assist with the preparation and distribution of annual donor contribution statements.
Events & Community Engagement
● Assist with community engagement activities to help cultivate new donor relationships, including information tables at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth during April, September, and October.
● Coordinate occasional donor events, receptions, and meetings.
● Support foundation visits, corporate meetings, and church presentations as needed.
Annual Campaigns
● Assist with annual campaigns by coordinating quarterly mailings.
● Manage logistics for third-party fundraisers, including North Texas Giving Day.
Development Operations
· Support grant research and preparation of foundation proposals and reports.
· Attend professional development opportunities related to fundraising and nonprofit best practices.
· Participate in organizational events and special projects.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Success Measures
· Donor acknowledgments are completed within established timelines.
· Monthly communications and marketing pieces are produced on schedule.
· Events are executed professionally and within budget.
· CRM records remain accurate, current, and complete.
· Growth in donor engagement through communications, events, and stewardship activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, public relations, business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- One to three years in nonprofit development, communications, marketing, donor relations, event planning, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling donor and marketing communications.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common communications platforms, including Canva, social media management tools, and email marketing software.
- Experience maintaining accurate records and managing data in a CRM or donor database (or the ability to learn new database systems quickly).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while exercising sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Commitment to exceptional customer service and building positive relationships with donors, volunteers, clients, community partners, and colleagues.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 30 pounds of event and marketing materials, with assistance for heavier items.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in nonprofit fundraising or donor stewardship.
- Experience planning and coordinating fundraising or community events.
- Experience with graphic design, website content management, photography, or digital marketing.
- Familiarity with donor management software, online giving platforms, and fundraising best practices.
- Knowledge of the North Texas philanthropic and nonprofit community.
- Experience working with survivors of family violence or other vulnerable populations.

Compensation: Starting at $ 50,000- $ 55,000 annually, commensurate with relevant experience.
