Senior Engineer II - Substation Design

Qualified candidates will have at least 10 years of hands-on substation design experience, preferably in a utility environment (but would consider a consultant environment as well).
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive engineering design services for substation facilities and ensures the facilities are constructed on schedule and within committed resource allocations.
- Leads functional teams and provides technical oversight in performing all phases of projects.
- Assists with internal training for engineers and technicians.
- Works closely with managers and principal engineers on higher-level projects, and recommends and implements changes that benefit the company.
- Develops economical, technically feasible, and reliable substation physical and control designs with no supervision and guidance.
- Provides technical management of multiple substation projects and prioritization of work, working collaboratively with outside consulting firms and internal stakeholders. (25%)
- Ensures quality control on assigned projects by providing construction support as needed, including coordination with construction forces and job site inspections. (25%)
- Provides coordination and communication with other departments in completing procurement tasks on projects with no supervision or guidance. (15%)
- Assists and guides other departments in the solution of non-standard substation design problems. (15%)
- Provides accurate cost estimates for use in company budgeting procedures, such that cash flow requirements are identified. (10%)
- Provides input for the development of detailed project schedules and updates the project management system to reflect the status of projects assigned. (10%)
- Ensures all compliance aspects of the position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the position and company.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in electrical engineering and 8 years of industry experience as a practicing engineer, and must be a licensed PE.
- If no PE license, must have 10 years as a practicing engineer.
- Substation/control engineering principles and knowledge of other phases of engineering.
- Areas of cost control, budgets, finance, and accounting, with technical experience in cost analysis.
Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
