Database Developer

The Database Developer partners with senior developers and production Database Administrators to design and implement scalable, efficient data solutions. This role collaborates closely with customers, management, business analysts, and project teams to translate business requirements into quality technical solutions aligned with organizational and IT strategies. Key focus areas include designing and maintaining data structures, queries, reporting solutions, ETL processes, and data warehousing strategies for mission-critical projects. The role requires strong collaboration with team members on daily deliverables while continuing professional growth in database development.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in systems and data analysis, design, development, integration, and enhancement activities, including related maintenance and production support
• Contribute to project scope development and serve as a project point of contact when necessary
• Collaborate in project planning sessions to analyze development requirements, provide design recommendations for complex systems, and recommend methods and resource assignments
• Conduct unit testing to ensure systems meet customer and line-of-business requirements based on technical documentation
• Provide ongoing maintenance for web and client/server applications, depending on project involvement
• Assist with unresolved production support issues and develop application and custom integration solutions, including major enhancements and interfaces
• Modify existing software applications and modules in accordance with technical specifications and division standards
• Follow the documented Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process and contribute to the development of reusable routines and components
• Translate business and technical requirements into cross-functional application systems and custom integration solutions
• Collaborate with team members to establish development guidelines and ensure compliance with application standards
• Provide application support during regular and after-hours as needed
• Stay current with industry innovations, trends, standards, tools, and technologies
• Observe all policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and risk limits; report known or suspected violations to appropriate authorities

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Three (3) years of related experience including data design, project management, multiple programming languages, and metadata management
• Solid understanding of systems development life cycle (SDLC), software best practices, and development methodologies
• Strong data analysis and ETL skills
• Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) and governance principles
• Understanding of multiple programming languages, systems, and data design methodologies
• Strong architecture, design, and development capabilities
• Understanding of data warehouse design for analytical and business intelligence solutions
• Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
• Ability to develop and organize high-quality documentation
• Flexibility managing multiple projects with large data volumes in a rapidly changing environment
• Proficiency troubleshooting issues in multi-tier environments
• Leadership skills with an emphasis on teamwork and cross-functional collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or Business Intelligence designation
• Knowledge of data modeling and database design
• Experience with databases such as MySQL and Oracle
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as C# and VB.Net
• Experience with System DB
• Experience in the banking or financial services industry
