Job Description
The Inside Sales Assistant is responsible for partnering with our Outside Sales Representative to provide excellent service to our customers and prospective customers. This position requires taking phone calls, along with order entry for our retail accounts, and providing support to the General Manager and production team as established by the General Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Welcomes visitors and direct them to the appropriate parties.
- Answer phone calls and direct calls to the appropriate parties.
- Maintain vendors' certificates of insurance (COIs) and obtaining new COIs as needed.
- Sort and deliver mail to the appropriate personnel, pick up mail daily.
- Send out customer account statements monthly.
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of MetalMax products, services and pricing structure.
- Identify leads, manage prospects and relay new business to the Outside Sales Representative.
- Determine customer needs and propose appropriate service needs.
- Quote orders for new jobs with the guidance of the General Manager or Outside Sales Representative.
- Input orders into SAP.
- Send jobs to machines via Connex.
- Meet or exceed the business sales goals.
- Develop and maintain an awareness of market behavior and competitive trends and respond accordingly.
- Regularly meet with General Manager and the Outside Sales Representative to review weekly sales activities, progress on goals, and status of prospective customers.
- Stand in for General Manager when needed.
- Ensure showroom stays clean and upkept.
- Run errands as needed
- Other duties, as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must present and communicate in a professional manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be organized with good time management skills.
- Possess proven analytical/problem solving solutions for the customer and the company.
- Computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications.
- Previous Inside Sales experience preferred.
- Experience in developing and executing territory sales strategies.
- Possess strong phone, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed goals.
- Previous Metal Building or Roofing industry experience required.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department or line of business.
Education & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or related field preferred.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions: The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% or more of the time. This position will require eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
