A Day in the Life
- Begin by reviewing drawings and routings to confirm material type, size, and required quantities.
- Set up and operate production machinery including Stamping and Perforating Presses, Expanders, Cut-to-Length (CTL) lines, Lasers, Turret Presses, Tube Forming equipment, and TIG Welders.
- Dial in setups, make on-the-fly adjustments, and complete first-piece inspections to confirm conformance.
- Continuously check for defects—burrs, missing holes, cracks—especially from upstream operations.
- Perform hourly inspections using precision measurement and hand metrology tools; document results and track material appropriately.
- Complete the move ticket fully and attach it to the load; accurately report hours and production quantities in the applicable system.
- Handle, stack, and move material safely using carts, hand trucks, or forklifts, following all SOPs and health/safety rules.
- Maintain clean work areas—remove scrap, wood, and spills—and assist with other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Department Assistant.
- Share your expertise by training other employees on safe setups, quality checks, and best practices.
- 2 years of machine operation and setup experience in manufacturing (strong mechanical aptitude required).
- Working knowledge of quality standards and ISO 9001:2015; familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions; solid understanding of department procedures and related system transactions.
- Knowledge of company policies, shop rules, and safety protocols.
- Proficiency with inspection tools and gauging; strong shop math skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication, and the drive to work independently or as part of a team.
- Capacity for repetitive bending and kneeling; able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Equipment troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Metal stamping and forming (progressive die).
