Today, the Louisiana-based company produces a wider range of specialty vessels than perhaps any comparable yard. Key markets served include fire rescue, law enforcement, military, passenger vessels, pilot boats, various workboat operators and other specialty operators.
The Structural Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and validation of vessel structures for aluminum and steel marine craft. This position develops structural arrangements and calculations to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and company standards. The Structural Engineer collaborates closely with designers, naval architects, production personnel, and project managers to deliver safe, efficient, and manufacturable vessel structures.

Hours Full Time, 40 hours/week
Monday – Thursday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Friday: 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Typical Duties/Responsibilities of Position:
- Develop complex 3D ship structural models using Solidworks and/or Rhino
- Create 2D structural part and construction assembly drawings for production using AutoCAD
- Populate nesting software with developed parts
- Modify 3D Models and 2D Drawings to match the as-built configuration
- Provide final structural design to engineers upon modeling completion
- Support production teams by resolving engineering questions and providing technical guidance during vessel construction.
- Participate in design reviews and cross-functional engineering meetings.
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, templates, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving mechanical design issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain organized engineering documentation and revision control.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Engineering Degree or Associate’s Degree in Drafting & Design, or similar
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of designing and drafting experience in the shipbuilding industry:
2D and 3D Structural Design
Extensive knowledge of the following software
AutoCAD
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook)
Solidworks and/or Rhino
Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
