FAA Blasting Operator SummaryThe candidate will efficiently prepare metal and composite surfaces for repairs or coatings by using compressed air to propel abrasive materials against the surface. The selected candidate will be subject to random drug screens, as this is a requirement of the FAA guidelines. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperates abrasive blasting equipment which includes sand blasting machines, portable air compressors, and relaxed toolsPrepares the surface by removing contaminants like rust, scale, paint, and coatings to prepare for repairs or paintingChooses the appropriate abrasive media like sand, grit, shot for the specific surface and taskMaintains equipment by cleaning and ensuring it includes both hoses and nozzlesAdheres to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)Follow instructions by reading and understanding work order requirementsIdentifies parts based on visual and/or electronic descriptionsPrepares parts for subsequent processes, such as painting, anodizing, or surface treatmentsOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsHS diploma (or equivalent) and 1 year/years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceMust have the ability to speak, read, write, and understand English proficiently in accordance with FAA guidelinesMust be familiar with all FAA processes and SPOPSCan manage multiple prioritiesAttentiveness to detail and sensitivity to the nature of the positionBe familiar with the processing of all substrates encountered on the lineBe familiar with stripping procedures for applicable processesMust have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Metal Finishing Technologies, LLC provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation, and training.Employment with Metal Finishing Technologies, LLC is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check.Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
