Metal Building Industries (MBI) is seeking a proven construction leader to take ownership of our construction operations and help drive the next phase of growth. As Director of Construction, you'll lead our Project Managers and Superintendents, oversee project execution across multiple jobs, and ensure every project is delivered safely, profitably, on schedule, and to the high standards our clients expect.

MBI specializes in the design, supply, and installation of complex Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB) for the commercial construction market. Through our innovative 3D-native design workflow, we deliver projects faster, with greater coordination, and at a higher level of quality than traditional approaches.
What You'll Do
- Lead and oversee all construction operations, ensuring projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to company quality standards.
- Directly lead, coach, and develop Project Managers and Superintendents while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex project challenges and support teams in achieving successful outcomes.
- Drive a strong safety culture through enforcement of company safety programs, OSHA compliance, and jobsite best practices.
- Own departmental performance, including project profitability, forecasting, budgeting, labor utilization, and resource management.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when schedule, cost, quality, or safety objectives are at risk.
- Oversee subcontractor relationships, contract administration, change management, and subcontractor performance.
- Partner with estimating, engineering, design, and operations teams during preconstruction and project execution.
- Develop and implement training, mentorship, and succession planning programs that strengthen the construction organization.
- Improve processes, systems, and best practices to support operational excellence and scalable growth.
- Support customer relationships, business development efforts, and strategic initiatives that contribute to company success.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8 years of progressive construction experience in commercial or industrial construction environments.
- Experience as a Project Manager, Superintendent, or similar construction leadership role.
- 3 years of experience leading, developing, and managing construction teams.
- Strong knowledge of construction operations, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and project execution.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and teams while driving accountability and results.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices and OSHA requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly to project sites.
- OSHA 30 Certification, or ability to obtain within the first 90 days.
- Experience with PEMB and structural steel construction is preferred.
