Metal Building Industries (MBI) is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our accounting and financial operations and help drive informed business decisions. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, project accounting, internal controls, and construction-related financial analysis.

MBI specializes in the design, supply, and installation of complex Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB) for the commercial construction market. Through our innovative 3D-native design workflow, we deliver projects faster, with greater coordination, and at a higher level of quality than traditional approaches.
What You'll Do
- Lead the company's accounting and financial operations, such as financial reporting, month-end close, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Prepare accurate financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and management reports that support business decisions.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, banking relationships, and collection activities to maintain financial stability.
- Oversee construction accounting functions, including job costing, WIP reporting, project billing, retainage tracking, and profitability analysis.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
- Partner with project managers and company leadership to analyze project performance, identify trends, and improve financial results.
- Coordinate audits, tax filings, regulatory compliance activities, and financial documentation requirements.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting processes, and financial systems.
- Lead and develop accounting team members while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 or more years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, strongly preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Professional certification (CPA, CMA) favorable but not required.
