Chemist

We are working with our client in their search for several Chemists to support customer-focused lab work. You'll prepare paint and panels, run customer correlation work, and help move products from the lab to the plant to the customer. Travel is about 15–20%, mostly local within Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

What You'll Do

• Prepare paint and panels, perform spec testing and customer correlations, and keep detailed lab notebooks.
• Use internal systems and processes, including SAP and AS/400, to take products from lab to plant to customer on schedule.
• Share results with field technical service reps and support customer visits alongside senior staff.
• Write monthly reports and lab reports with clear analysis and supporting data.
• Handle hazardous waste safely, including labeling containers and moving them to the 90-day storage area. Full training is provided, including RCRA and DOT.

What You Bring

• A degree in chemistry or a related science, with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Paint or coatings experience is highly preferred.
• A working knowledge of formula raw materials and coatings chemistry. Experience using loading charts to formulate colors is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, plus proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• The ability to work independently, adapt to shifting priorities, and occasionally flex your schedule or work extra hours to meet customer needs.
