Job Overview:
Merrick Construction Inc. is seeking a detail-driven Estimator to join our award-winning team. The Estimator will play a critical role in the success of our custom home building projects, responsible for evaluating plans, identifying material and labor costs, and developing accurate budgets and proposals. We are looking for someone with a solid background in residential construction estimating — but we’re happy to teach you the Merrick way if you bring a strong foundation and the right mindset! You will be thoroughly trained by our current estimator.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and other project documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for residential new homes and remodeling.
- Develop quantity take-offs, labor estimates, and material pricing.
- Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to solicit bids and verify pricing.
- Prepare detailed and organized bid proposals for review and presentation.
- Use years of historical data to help produce a current and accurate estimate.
- Assist in value engineering and cost-saving recommendations without sacrificing quality.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and field teams to ensure project budgets are aligned with on-site execution.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with the client and our team.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in estimating for residential construction projects preferred.
- Strong knowledge of residential construction practices, methods, materials, and building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings is a must.
- Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with team members when needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with estimating software a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn Merrick's systems and uphold the company’s high standards for service and quality.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
