This role serves as a Facility Operations Technician at Merrell Bros.β Indy Disposal Solutions (IDS) facility and is responsible for customer interactions, daily facility operations, maintenance, cleaning, and grounds care. This position also assists with mechanical work on facility equipment, playing an important role in maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable disposal operations.
The Facility Operations Technician is a key member of the Disposal Solutions team, supporting environmentally responsible waste management while ensuring a positive experience for customers and partners. This role offers a consistent daily schedule, hands-on work, and a variety of responsibilities that keep each day engaging and impactful.
A desire to work in a team-oriented environment, with flexibility to handle changing work assignments, is essential. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required. A clean driving record is required. Candidates with strong mechanical skills are highly preferred and may be considered at a higher rate if willing to perform the full scope of mechanical and facility support work. Possession of a CDL is a plus and can be beneficial, but is not required for this role.
Responsibilities

Provide professional, courteous customer interaction and on-site support

Assist with testing samples and verifying incoming materials

Complete and process customer paperwork accurately

Perform routine facility maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operations

Grease, lubricate, and assist with maintenance of facility equipment

Skim water tanks and monitor facility systems

Clean facility areas, office spaces, and wash down facility equipment

Maintain dump area, including washing down ramps and clearing rocks and grit

Monitor overall facility operations and report mechanical or operational concerns

Perform grounds maintenance to maintain a clean, organized, and professional site

Assist with mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on facility equipment
Requirements

General labor or hands-on work experience preferred

Mechanical aptitude strongly preferred, including experience with equipment, tools, or maintenance tasks

Willingness to learn and assist with mechanical troubleshooting and repairs

No recent moving or driving violations

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical work in an outdoor environment

CDL license is a plus and may provide additional opportunities, but is not required
