Overview:
This position is a “Jack of all Trades” position. It includes assisting with wholesale product production, helping with the AM pastry bake and filling the retail food merchandise. It also involves prepping cookies, cheesecakes, and other desserts.
- Assists with donut production on Sundays
- Assists with the AM pastry baking on Mondays and Tuesdays
- This position is the banana bread baker - making and packaging about 23 loaves of banana bread each week
- Assists with maintaining the in-store bakery case
- Monitors, preps, and bakes drop cookie orders
- Monitors, preps, and bakes cheesecake orders
- Maintains strict bakery standards for products
- Assists with decorated cookie production
- Arrives each day with a clean apro
- Must have reliable transportation as running occasional deliveries may be required
- Monitors ingredient inventory
Other job responsibilities include standard bakery roles including: helping with bakery cleanliness, following health department regulations, helping cover shifts when other staff are on vacation, helping with customer service, etc.
Responsibilities (Critical behaviors associated with this role):
- Properly corresponding, baking, and documenting small wholesale orders
- Delivering wholesale or dessert orders as needed
- Answering phones
- Help prepare all cake components including buttercreams, curds, jams, mousses, etc.
- This position is responsible for occasionally helping clean the bathrooms and vacuum the hallways
- All staff are required to occasionally help fill in for other staff when they are sick or when they are taking vacation
- Maintain bakery cleanliness
- Be proactive in finding solutions to problems and being an active participant in helping solve bakery problems
- Maintain a positive work environment

- Avoid sarcasm or deflecting negative feelings with indirect statements
- Outbursts are never tolerated
- Follow the chain of command for dealing with standard co-worker conflicts. This includes first talking with the employee before you put in a complaint with management
- Do your dishes in a timely manner
- Leave the kitchen cleaner then how you found it
- Being a “team player” is imperative for this role. We are a small business and all staff help each other when needed
- Making sure your deadlines for product/baking/orders are met
- Making sure you arrive to work consistently at your scheduled time
- Making sure to keep up with production and not let tasks “snowball” for the end of the week
- Making sure to document when product is low and forecasting when you will need product ahead of time
- Meringue Bakery needs staff who are willing to be creative and suggest new menu items and explore unique menu offerings
- This job may involve helping with cake/dessert deliveries
- During high volume weeks, all staff are required to work until the daily job lists are done, even if it requires staying longer than the schedule suggests

Requirements (expected proficiencies):

Required

- Current Driver’s License
- Reliable and clean transportation
- Comfortable using a computer, navigating standard office and point-of-sale systems.
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25.0 – 32.0 per week
